Dream Up A Good Life: Jim Carrey’s Speech

The Haunted Housewife - Dream Up A Good Life: Jim Carrey's Inspirational Speech

You know how, sometimes, we hear or read something that sounds like it was written just for us? Something so relatable it sends shivers down our spine?

At the Maharishi University of Management’s 2014 graduation ceremony, Jim Carrey delivered an incredibly inspiring commencement speech that you need to hear.

How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That’s all you have to figure out. As someone who has done what you are about to go do, I can tell you from experience, the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.

Jim Carrey, the comedian, isn’t at the top of the list of people you’d expect to hear such powerful words from. The man has no limits. That’s his secret. 🔐

Your job is not to figure out how it’s going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head and when the doors open in real life, just walk through it. Don’t worry if you miss your cue. There will always be another door opening. They keep opening.

You can view the full speech (26 minutes) and read the transcript here.

  • He is an inspiration! I have heard that Jim Carey believes and lives by the Law of Attraction, which is why I came over to comment on your post. I have been studying and applying it for sometime. Like attracts like! I gave up my career a few years ago to follow my passions. I have never been happier!

    • I’m familiar with the Law of Attraction and need to really apply it to my life. I read the book and saw the movie “The Secret” but for some reason it still slips my mind! Thanks for reminding me 🙂

I’ve read this speech multiple times before. I love the quotes that you’ve pulled out here so much!

  • I read things like that and get all teary eyed and think about my own life. I want to use my talent to feed the world and to help those who can’t feed themselves.

I definitely need help relaxing at the end of a stressful day. I have a difficult time shutting down, thank you for sharing these tips. We all need to remind ourselves how important it is to disconnect from stressful sources.
