9 Quotes For Taking It Easy

Earth is spinning at 1000 miles per hour; we’re pulled in every direction in our lives, oftentimes spread too thin. While many love the distraction of a busy world, every once in a while it’s important to stand still and take a few deep breaths. I realize I haven’t gotten out much when I start getting stressed out, and angry. The beauty of nature relaxes me when I take the time to look around. Times like these — times like now, I need reminders to take is slow and just be.

“It’s important to slow down, every now and then, for no other reason than to call someone to say ‘Hi.’ It doesn’t have to be a long conversation. Just calling out of the blue does more to let someone know you still care about them than nearly anything else.” — Simon Sinek

“In this media-drenched, multitasking, always-on age, many of us have forgotten how to unplug and immerse ourselves completely in the moment. We have forgotten how to slow down. Not surprisingly, this fast-forward culture is taking a toll on everything from our diet and health to our work and the environment.” —Carl Honore

“We’re so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are.”  — Bill Watterson

“The beauty and mystery of this world only emerges through affection, attention, interest and compassion; if you want to live in the paradise where happy mares and stallion live, open your eyes wide and actually see this world by attending to its colors, details and irony.” — Orhan Pamuk, My Name is Red

“Stop and unplug,” say I; “look around you, at the vastness and greatness of the natural world.” Some stop. Others need binoculars to tie their shoelaces.” — Fennel Hudson, A Waterside Year – Fennel’s Journal – No. 2

“We are bombarded on all sides by a vast number of messages we don’t want or need. More information is generated in a single day than we can absorb in a lifetime. To fully enjoy life, all of us must find our own breathing space and peace of mind”. — James E. Faust

“If you will only pause, as you hurry through your days, take a minute to look at passersby, beyond cursory skin-deep analysis, all the way into their eyes, what beauty you might find woven from the life threads there.” — Ellen Hopkins, Perfect

“But nobody ever tells you in advance when you should concentrate on the good times-that’s why you’re supposed to do it every day.” — Jordan Sonnenblick, After Ever After

“Nothing like the pure, unpolluted air we get to breathe in these mountains, and nothing like being away from cities.” — Preeti Shenoy, It Happens for a Reason

When I can get away, I grab my camera and explore places around my city leaving my phone behind (or on airplane mode if I absolutely need it). If you’re feeling like you need to take it easy, I hope these quotes will inspire you to do so. 🙂
