While spooky season began in August, the first day of fall was several days ago and it was bittersweet. I’m glad it’s here, but at the same time it can go as quickly as it came. As much as I want to throw myself into the fall spirit, it’s still 100 degrees outside (oh, Texas) and, well, let me just tell you about my caramel apple struggle.

You sit in that fancy brown leather chair.  I will lay, dramatically, on the chaise lounge. Today, you’re my therapist and I will tell you about how I feel. 🤦🏼‍♀️

There is low-carb apple cider in this mug. Am I holding this right? I have small hands…

Caramel Apples on Keto

Fall is my favorite season for a lot of reasons; a few of those may have something to do with apples and not pumpkin spice. Life ain’t easy, though, and this year I am suffering.

Last April, I started ketogenic dieting. That means I keep my daily carbohydrate intake between 20-50 grams. A single apple has 25 grams.

Needless to say, there are no caramel apples on a keto diet. It’s just not happening and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. Please, think of me when you’re enjoying yours this year. I’m going to be scouring the internet for real-life cheat codes, and ways around this madness.

The Silver Lining

  • I managed to find low-carb, sugar-free apple cider!
  • In total, I have lost 65 lbs. I can’t be too upset, I suppose…
  • There are recipes for low-carb caramel, and maybe I can slip in a bite or two of an apple. 🤔

There ya have it, Doc. See ya next week!

The sugar-free apple cider I found is by Alpine and yes, it’s in a dreaded pouch. Only 4g carbs, though, and it doesn’t taste terrible! #winning

Side Note: My nails haven’t been painted in a couple of weeks. Can thou believe it? Let me bask in my laziness, I’m enjoying this.

Cheek Fleekers for Weirdos

If you’re reading this, you more than likely don’t run with the normal crowd. How accurate am I?  You’s on my blog. That means, you’s special. 🌈  Which, leads me to believe… you may be interested in rainbow highlight and highlights in strange colors. We’re talking makeup, not school supplies.

Before having your cheeks on fleek became trendy, I used to stick iridescent glitter on my cheekbones. Unfortunately, I have no pictures but I do have that very same glitter–maybe I’ll recreate the look, someday.

✨Dear diary, I was a teenage unicorn. 🦄

Spooky season tends to bring out a lot of the funkier makeup items; use this to your advantage and pickup some neat things. There are a lot of highlights suitable for all of your unicorn and mermaid needs, so get glowin’.

The Wet N’ Wild Highlighting Powder was found in Walmart’s Halloween makeup display, and Maybelline’s Master Fairy Highlight was found in their regular makeup section. Above the makeup are my first two Halloween junk purchases of the season! 💀

Music On Repeat

These last few weeks, I’ve been in my own world a lot. My head space is being used wisely to focus on spooky things, obviously, and I use music to tune everybody out. “Wolf Like Me,” is just one of the songs I’ve been listening to on repeat.

In my free time, I also enjoy sharing my favorite music with those closest to me and then bothering them about it later. That’s just what ya do, right? 😎

Going Rogue

You’ll be seeing a lot more posts just like these, that are little snippets of my life with no real purpose. These posts don’t contain affiliate links, disclaimers of any kind, and they aren’t here to teach, advertise or showcase a product. In these posts, I’m not a blogger. I’m your friend.

Well, in this particular post, you were my therapist. 😉 See ya around!

I just love Fall! Apple cider, pumpkin, pretty leaves, and Halloween! I am definitely going to look for that highlighter at Walmart.

    • Oh, me too! I wish it would stay this way forever. Or, at least a few more weeks or months. Wouldn’t it be nice?

Girl, I admire your strength to do Keto anytime between Sept 1 and Jan 1. 😉 Way to go on 65lbs though! Hopefully, this hard season coming goes as well…what a great thing to be able to tout. 😉

    • Ugh, YES! This time of the year is always hard! But I have scheduled my cheat days around Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve/Christmas… so, if I can stick to THAT, I’ll be good! We’ll see, hahaha!

      • Ashley Spang-GrowingSpangs.com

Hooray for cheat days!! Honestly, I think that’s why a lot of diets/lifestyle changes fail is because of burn out and sudden loss. Way to go, no wonder why you’re 65lbs in! 🙂

  • Such a bummer to miss out on goodies, but glad you found something to help hold you over!

    • This biggest bummer that ever did bum! I’ll settle for a bite here and there, though!

  • Ahhh I’m so happy to come across your blog! Haha we should absolutely swap weather, we have Halloween weather pretty much all year round, now it’s just raining every day and we’re back to wearing coats >< it seems like summer only lasts 2 weeks and then it's cold and dreary again! I've never tried apple cider before, can't wait to read more spooky goodness from your blog 😀 xx
