Bunny, aka Grav3yardGirl, has been a YouTuber since way way back. She’s quite the character; she’s very real, hilarious and straight forward. Her videos cover a wide range of topics, but her reviews are phenomenal. She recently collaborated with Tarte, and they released a collection together. Weeeeee! I feel like I’m announcing a marriage and the birth of a child. Congratulations, it’s a palette! 🍼
SWAMP THING? Swamp Queen! 🐊
The Swamp Queen palette is a full size all-in-one palette featuring a blush, bronzer, highlighter and nine eye shadow shades. The packaging is quite sturdy, featuring a mirror and a brush. The eye shadows weigh a gram each, and the blush/bronzer/highlighter weigh in at 3.2 grams each.
The outside cover is textured plastic made to look like wood, with the lettering embossed on the front in metallic gold. The mirror on the inside says,“Believe in yourself. Love yourself. Embrace your individuality.” This was such a delight to see, such an amazing reminder to those of us that need a little pick-me-up some mornings.
All Tarte shadows smell like cake batter to me, this palette included. Don’t eat your beauty products, friends. Just in case, the Poison Control Center in the United States can be reached at 1-800-222-1222. 😅
Do they work?
All of the colors aside for one were buttery, smooth to the touch and easy to blend. The only color that appeared chalky to me was Sippy Sippy, the shade with chunky glitter. There was a lot of fallout with these shadows, so be wary of that!
The colors? There’s an issue with the shadows that I noticed. Let me show you. See how the bottom row of purples look in the pan:
When swatched, they appear more brown/neutral than anything:
I’m mega bummed about it because I was really looking forward to those purple shades. Could it be my skin tone? 🤔 Is this palette cursed? ☠️
On the other hand, the highlighter was better than I expected. But I felt that the bronzer shade was a little too much on the warm/orange side for my skin tone the few times that I used it. But perhaps I just need some sun. 😎☀️
Tarte’s Swamp Queen palette is an excellent every day palette if you’re wanting to keep your look simple, yet poppin’. It’s very convenient and perfect for travel if the colors suit you, since you get nine eye shadow shades with a bronzer, blush and highlight in one convenient palette.
Nine shadows is more than enough to experiment and create different eye looks for a short period of time. All you’ll really need to bring with you is your lip color, eye liner and mascara. Travel light! ✈️
The highlight is very pigmented and sparkly, it’s definitely my favorite.
I can’t personally vouch for how this palette looks on darker skin tones, but I think it would best serve fair skin. My guess is that Bunny created her dream palette since she, too, is very fair skinned and appears to wear mostly neutral shades.
The shadows look very different swatched than they do in the pan. The purples look a lot more brown than I expected them to be which was a total bummer. You know I live for purples. I mean… look around. 😚
The limited edition Bunny x Tarte Grav3yard Girl Swamp Queen palette is perfect for beauties looking for a simple yet stunning all-in-one kit. This palette and the collection is limited edition, so if you’re thinking about getting it, I’d attack. There’s no telling where you’ll be able to find this later once Tarte stops producing it. I’d recommend getting it on Amazon with super fast Prime shipping. 🛒
The palette, and the rest of the Swamp Queen collection, is a must-have for Bunny fans. My feelings are mixed at this point, since I’m bummed about the purples. But overall, I do think it’ll work for traveling.
What do you think? Good buy, or nah?
